About Bhagavad Gita

The Bhagavad Gita is a philosophical dialogue between Krishna and Arjuna within the Mahabharata. Its teachings on action, discipline, knowledge, devotion and equanimity have been rendered differently by many translators, so no English sentence should be presented as though it were the single definitive wording of the Sanskrit text.

How these quotations are verified

These selections use Sir Edwin Arnold’s public-domain verse translation, The Song Celestial. Every record names Arnold as translator and identifies the chapter; extracts spoken by Krishna remain attributed to the text rather than misleadingly presented as Arnold’s personal sayings.
